Candles and Cake! :)

Clueless to what was going on with her hubby, Thistle could only sit, drink her cup of coffee and be aggravated with Strawkiwi that he had not fixed the TV as promised. So she did what all wives do at some time or another and nagged him about it as soon as he walked into the kitchen that morning.
Strawkiwi: *sighs* I'll take care of it right now
Thistle: Thank you, I've asked you seventy-bajillion times already this week alone.

While Strawkiwi was repairing the TV in silence and Thistle was changing into her every day outift, that little alarm bell that most women get that goes off when their husbands don't argue about something they normally would, rang loud an clear to Thistle. She immediately turned on her heels and headed into the living room.

Thistle: Ok, what's up?
Strawkiwi: What do you mean? I fixing the blasted TV like you asked "seventy-bajillion" times, right?
Thistle: Sweetheart, I know you, somethings wrong.
Strawkiwi took one look into those big pools of peridot and knew he couldn't hide it anymore.
He launched into the whole situation, from the writers block to the threat from his publishers, he told Thistle everything. When he had finished he took a step back and winced, bracing himself for the lashing he knew he was sure he'd receive and deserved.

Thistle took a two steps forward and as she did so her face contorted into not one of anger but one of pity. She embraced her husband who let out a gush of relief.
Thistle: Why didn't you tell me this sooner, Strawkiwi.
Thistle's voice was one of concern with a hint of sadness.
Thistle: You know that I could have helped you work through all of this. You should never keep anything like this to yourself. Bottling it all up inside is bad for you.
Strawkiwi: I'm sorry Thistle. I should have known that I could come to you of all people. It was purely pride and embarrassment that kept me from doing so.

The couple sat down and worked out a plan...and a new budget. The girls were too little to remember their birthday at this age, so they'd have a private party with the 6 of them instead of the big-to-do that Thistle had been planning. As soon as the girls had turned 3, Thistle would go back to work and the couple would hire a part-time nanny. If Strawkiwi was able to finish his book, great. If he couldn't, they would deal with it. Together.
But Thistle secretly prayed to the Simmie gods that her husband would come through with his book.

She tried not to let it worry her over the next few weeks and by the twins 3rd birthday, she was more focused on her last babies growing up into toddlers than the book deal. First up to blow out her candles was Bubbles, the more energetic and easily excited of the two.

And boy had she grown up to be a cutie pie! Thistle and Strawkiwi had already been shocked by the color, but Thistle could swear she saw Bubbles hair grow right in front of her eyes!

Next up was Miss Candy. As sweet as her name would lead you to believe. Thistle already had a sneaking suspicion that Candy would favor her in the looks department.

And she was right!

Bubbles was so excited about the colorful candles and cake as expected and ate too much cake this lead to a sugar rush that lead to a sugar meltdown and was soon curled up in Thistle's arms half-comatose from all the glucose.

And it was clear that Candy had her big brother wrapped around her sweet little green fingers.

Pepper is so good with both the twins but you can tell that Candy has a special place in his heart.

Noticing that someone had disappeared from the party, Thistle decided to go in search of her eldest daughter. Low and behold, ever seeking adventure, Honeydew was found playing pirate princess explorer in her toychest.

Yes, this little princess was trading out her Goggi bunny-bear for plastic swords and...rocketships???? Lol XD

Yes, things were going much better at the Tea Household...for now :)
